Researchers Find Dead Whale On Coast, Then Open Its Stomach And Find THIS!

Researchers in Norway have reportedly discovered a whale with over 30 plastic bags and several other pieces of plastic waste in its stomach.

According to The Daily Mail, wardens on the western coast of the country put down the whale after finding it severely ill and stranded in shallow waters.

Researchers proceeded to dissect the animal and found an alarming amount of non-biodegradable waste in its stomach.

Warning – the images below are not for the faint of heart.

According to zoologist Dr. Terje Lislevand, “the whale’s stomach was full of plastic bags and packaging with labels in Danish and English.”

He added that the whale’s intestines were likely so blocked up by the plastic that it resulted in severe pain.

“The findings are not surprising,” remarked Dr. Lislevand. “But clearly it is sad to discover such large quantities.”

According to Daily Sabah, the whale’s blubber was very thin, suggesting it was malnourished.

The outlet also reports that the growing amount of plastic waste in the earth’s water is presenting an increasingly severe problem for marine animals, fish and birds that inhabit those areas.

To hit home the severity of the problem, the World Economic Forum reports that a whopping eight million metric tons of plastic enters the ocean every single year.

According to Science Mag, it took half a century for scientists to figure out that number – and things aren’t looking good going forward. Researchers predict that the amount of plastic waste that makes its way to large bodies of water in the next decade will double.

5-Year-Old Shocks Police Station After Walking In With THIS Sign Around His Neck

When a 5-year-old African-American boy walked into a Charlotte police station, officers were stunned by the hand-written sign he was wearing around his neck.

The relationship between cops and African-Americans has been all but friendly in recent years—division peaking after the deaths of numerous black teenagers.

Although departments across the nation have initiated programs to reach out to inner-cities and heal the divide, Charlotte officers were blown away when a 5-year-old walked into their space with an open mind, an open heart, and open arms.

As the boy’s mother explained in a Facebook post:

I wanted to share a little story and shed some love and light on a very tough time for us in Charlotte, NC. Our streets are at war with protests and division has led to destruction and violence in our city.

My son heard helicopters and sirens all night and woke up crying. We decided to send him to school the next day to offer normalcy in a tough time for our city. On the way he heard about police getting injured from protests on the radio. He asked me if he could bring the police donuts and give them hugs for all they do.

It is amazing how much children can teach us during times like this.

I respected his wishes and took him to the Charlotte PD where he gave out hugs and donuts and told every officer he appreciated all they do to keep us safe. This is love in its purest form and what our world needs right now.

4 Anger Management Tricks That Will Calm You Down QUICK!

What is it that makes your blood boil? Maybe it’s getting struck in traffic, receiving a negative review from your boss or being stood up by a friend. Maybe you get angry when a family member doesn’t take your advice or when something unexpected comes up and you have to reach into your rainy day fund to take care of it. Everyone is bound to have something that pushes their buttons. It’s how you handle a seemingly negative situation that can make or break you. Spilling a cup of coffee on your lap can ruin your entire day… if you let it.

It can be hard to control your emotions. A rude note from a co-worker can cause your blood pressure to rise and the veins in your forehead to start popping. Before you know it, you’re angry, your day is shot and you have a negative attitude for the rest of the day. Figuring out how to manage your anger when it strikes can make all the difference. Learning how to deal with a negative situation while being calm, cool and collected can save you from wasting time and energy being upset.

The next time you start to get upset, try these anger management tricks to help make you feel peaceful again:

1. Improve Your Listening Skills

Being an active listener can help you improve your communication with others. Taking the time to listen to someone else and take interest in what they have to say can help you build better relationships. This can help reduce potentially hostile thoughts and emotions that might build up during a conflict. Being an active listener establishes feelings of empathy and shows the other person that their thoughts and emotions matter. Sometimes, a person who is confrontational toward you simply wants to be understood.

2. Practice Relaxation

Relaxing often seems like the hardest thing to do when you’re worked up. But believe it or not, it helps! When you feel yourself getting upset, focus on breathing deeply from your diaphragm. Short breaths from your chest won’t help. But pausing for a few moments to take deep breaths and focus on something positive can help calm your impending anxiety and lessen feelings of anger. Remind yourself that your reaction to a situation makes a difference. You are in control.

3. Find An Outlet

Constantly focusing on the thing that’s making you upset will only make the situation worse. Instead, force your mind out of a negative space. Find an outlet for your anger or frustration. Go for a run, practice yoga, read a book or take a walk outside. Getting yourself worked up won’t solve anything. In order for you to find a solution to your problem, you need to clear your head.

4. Forgive And Forget

Forgiveness is a powerful thing. Whether the person who hurt you deserves your forgiveness or not, think about how choosing to forgive can affect you. Choosing to forgive means making a decision to let go of the pain. It’s a promise to yourself that you’ll no longer let your anger control you. While we rarely ever forget when someone causes us pain, a “forgive and forget” mentality can help us learn a valuable lesson from the situation while being strong enough to move on.

8 Signs You Are Protein Deficient & How To Fix It

Proteins are long chains of amino acids that play an important role in many functions within your body. Protein helps you build muscle, burn fat, feel satisfied after eating and it even helps you build strong bones. Your body uses protein each and every day to function. It’s constantly being broken down and used, so it must constantly be replaced. If you aren’t getting enough protein in your diet, your health can begin to suffer.

Signs Of A Protein Deficiency

1. Your Workouts Are Suffering

Your body needs protein in order to build new muscle mass. It’s also important for keeping energy and motivation. If you aren’t getting enough protein, the result can be muscle loss, fatigue and even fat gain. Without adequate protein, you can work out more but see less results because your diet doesn’t support tissue repair or your energy needs.

2. You Aren’t Sleeping Well

Insomnia and trouble sleeping can be linked to unstable blood sugar levels, a rise in cortisol and a decrease in serotonin. Proteins from the food you eat act as the building blocks of tryptophan, an amino acid that causes drowsiness. Eating foods that contain protein before bed can help stimulate tryptophan and serotonin production to help you sleep.

3. You Have High Cholesterol

High cholesterol can be the result of increased inflammation, hormonal imbalances and high sugar diets. If you replace protein foods with sugary snacks or processed meals on a regular basis, your cholesterol will start to rise. Without enough protein in your diet, you won’t feel satisfied. This can lead to constant snacking and making poor food choices.

4. You Feel Like You’re In A Brain Fog

Your body needs protein to support healthy neurological functioning. Poor concentration, lack of motivation and trouble learning new information can be signs that you’re low in protein. Dopamine, epinephrine and serotonin are neurotransmitters that your body needs in order to focus. Neurotransmitters are synthesized in the brain using amino acids. You might feel like you’re in a brain fog if you’re not getting enough protein.

5. Your Injuries Are Slow To Heal

Your body needs protein to absorb calcium and help with bone metabolism. A diet low in protein can increase your risk for muscle loss, bone weakness, fractures and even osteoporosis. Research has shown that a diet high in amino acids can help treat muscle loss due to aging.

6. You’ve Gained Some Weight

High-protein foods can sometimes contain more calories than carbohydrates, but they help satisfy you. Increased satiety can help prevent overeating. If you aren’t getting enough protein in your diet, you might find yourself hungry on a regular basis and constantly reaching for a snack, which can lead to weight gain.

7. You’ve Been Feeling More Anxious And Moody

Amino acids make up the neurotransmitters that control your mood. Protein is needed to help the brain synthesize hormonessuch as dopamine and serotonin, which help bring about positive feelings. If your body is low in protein, your dopamine and serotonin production may suffer.

8. You Have Trouble Going To The Bathroom

Many digestive system functions rely on amino acid intake. If your body feels tired and run down due to a protein deficiency, you might start having problems with your digestive system. Without enough protein, enzyme production and muscle contractions in your GI tract will suffer.

How To Get More Protein In Your Diet

According to the USDA, the recommended minimum daily intake of protein for adults is 56 grams per day for mean and 46 grams per day for women. These numbers are for adults who are at an average weight and activity level, and they’re considered minimum amounts. If you’re active, pregnant or ill, the amount of protein you need may be higher.

There are many animal-based and plant-based options for protein. Meat-eaters can consume grass-fed beef, organic chicken and turkey and wild-caught salmon to boost their protein intake. Vegetarian and vegan options include beans and legumes, nuts and seeds, and unprocessed grains such as oats, buckwheat and quinoa. Vegetables that contain protein include spinach, kale, broccoli, Brussel sprouts and mushrooms. You can also buy protein in a powder form for daily protein shakes to help boost your intake.

Is Your Brain Ruled By Emotions Or Logic? Take This Quiz To Find Out!

There are, more or less, two types of decision makers in this world; people who make decisions based on emotion and people who make decisions based on logic. In all honesty, both types of decision making have their positives and negatives.

People who make decisions based on logic seem to make the best decisions for themselves or a situation. Many people believe this is the best way to make a decision, but others would argue that logic based thinking lacks the emotion element needed to really relate to others.

Emotion based decisions, on the other hand, are not entirely the best as well. Sure, those who argue based on emotion are easier to relate too, but emotions are easily swayed with a few choice words. Emotion is one of the easiest ways to control a person or a group of people.

So, is your brain ruled by emotions, logic, or a mix a both? Take this short quiz to find out!

6 Perfect Comebacks For Dealing With Arrogant People

Arrogant people make for some of the most unpleasant folks to be around. They don’t just think they’re better than you, they act as if they know they’re better than you.

They also share a few traits and characteristics with narcissists, including believing that they are unique and only understood by high-status people, always being expectant of admiration from others, a large degree of entitlement, and a lack of empathy.

Their condescending attitudes and behaviors can make other people angry and put off by them, but you don’t have to let these people bring you down.

Those who stand up to arrogance are seen as having integrity, as they’re not going to just let someone disrespect them.

Here are six great comebacks when dealing arrogant people:

‘What makes you say that?’

This question simply asks the arrogant person to reflect on why they’re generalizing, insulting or stereotyping a person.

Hopefully, the arrogant person will recognize that they’ve said something negative and in poor taste and quit their behavior.

‘Ouch’ or ‘That one hurt’

Arrogant people have a knack for hurting other people’s feelings. They may or may not show empathy, but they definitely understand what it means to make someone feel crappy.

Tell them that they’re hurting you emotionally, don’t be afraid. At least they will become aware of the fact that they’re doing damage; they might even try to stop.

‘That’s not the only way of seeing things’

Of course, everyone in the free world has the right to voice their opinion and thoughts, but it’s obviously incredibly naive and foolish to think that only one way of thinking (or one opinion) is some kind of universal truth.

Let the arrogant person know that others do not share their negative outlook on the world.

‘That sounded kind of arrogant, I’m sure you meant it another way’

This shows the arrogant person that you want to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe they’re good-intentioned.

In fact, you actually give them a chance to save face by reiterating what they meant in a kinder way while simultaneously letting them know you won’t be pushed around.

‘Did you know, my mother is actually _____?’

When an arrogant person starts to belittle a group of people, try to turn it back around on them by saying you have a relative or sibling who is of that group of people.

They only do this so they can appear to be higher status. Shock them a bit by letting them know how close it hits to home. This tells them that they’re also insulting you now. They’ll usually apologize and try to move on.

‘I’d appreciate it if we stopped talking about this now’

Just as the arrogant person has rudely steamrolled the entire conversation, you can rudely put an end to it.

Arrogant folks like to talk and talk, so sometimes it’s very necessary to simply end the conversation before it derails into something else entirely.

This Is What Each Zodiac Sign Has Trouble Admitting To Themselves

There are things inside of each of us that are hard to face down. Many things we push to the dustiest corners of our minds to simply not have to think about.

But it’s important to consider the things that you don’t like to admit to yourself. It’s how you grow. Here’s what each zodiac sign has trouble admitting.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

You don’t like admitting that you have trouble staying focused and have trouble seeing things through to the end.

You come off as flakey, especially in a professional setting, when people rely on you for things. This inability to see things through makes you look less credible to your peers.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

You won’t admit you’re wrong, even when you know you are, and that kills the people around you.

Your prideful behavior will push people away from you – people you love. It’s important for you to face that and get it under control.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

You are the ultimate promise breaker. You tend to tell people things they want to hear, but you rarely follow through.

It’s easy for you to get lost in the moment. Your worst tendency is double booking yourself and needing to cancel with one.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

You act like a tough guy but you’re incredibly sensitive. This causes you to lash out madly at even the slightest barb or insult.

Your anger issues are often out of control, whether you yell and throw things or keep things bottled up without talking about it. Admit when people hurt you. It will help you heal.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

You’re afraid of people being better than you. You don’t want to be outshone by the competition, no matter if it’s friendly or serious.

You sometimes take steps to sabotage the people around you if it means maintaining your place on top.

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Your properness and perfectionism, while self-satisfying, creates friction with the people around you.

It’s okay if YOU want to be a perfectionist and want to keep everything as perfect and in-place as possible, but understand that your standards might not be shared by everyone and that you are the exception, not the rule.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Sometimes you need help. That’s it, really. That’s the thing you can’t admit to yourself. Sometimes you need help and that’s fine.

Ask for help. If the people around you actually love you, they’ll jump at the chance to help in any way that they can.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

You are, at times, callous in your relationships and too often put on a front of not caring whether or not someone stays or goes.

Deep down you do care and it’s important that you drop this facade, otherwise you run the risk of dooming the relationships you currently enjoy.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Too much of a good thing is a bad thing, and it is a bad thing that you are too forgiving.

People will take you for granted as long as you let yourself be a pushover. Stand up. Push back. Do what’s right for you and let others fend for themselves for once.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

You never admit when you’re feeling down and lonely. It’s a good thing in some respects, but you need to seek help when you’re depressed and you need to seek people out when you’re feeling isolated.

Don’t just nut up and put on a happy face. Talk about these things. Your mental health will thank you.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

You think you’re the victim when you make bad choices. You have trouble admitting that you have any regrets.

You run under the assumption that you always make the best decisions based on what you know, but that’s not the case. It’s okay to have regrets. It’s how you grow.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

You never believe that anything is your fault. If you lose a job, it’s not your fault. If you get broken up with, it’s not your fault.

If you push away a friend, it’s not your fault. Admit when things are your fault and you might be able to salvage what’s been damaged.

A recent research that was trying to find the cause of pain in fibromyalgia patients has discovered that it doesn’t originate from the brain. This is a massive discovery which marks the end of the mystery about fibromyalgia. This condition affects millions of people and is usually treated with painkillers. Doctors consider it a psychological disorder, but now scientists have discovered that the pain comes from an unusual place – the blood vessels in the hand.

The discovery could lead to new treatments and a possible future cure, which is great news for more than 5 000 000 Americans. In order to solve the mystery, the scientists focused on the skin of the hand of a patient who had a lack of sensory nerve fibers, which resulted in lowered pain response. The scientists were surprised to find a big number of nerve fibers in called arterioles-venule (AV) referrals in the skin sample. Until then, the scientific community thought that these fibers regulate the blood flow and had no role in pain, but have now found a direct link between nerves and fibromyalgia pain. The discovery is groundbreaking, and may answer questions why many people suffering from fibromyalgia report pain in the hands and why cold seems to aggravate their symptoms.

According to Dr. Frank L. Rice, a neuroscientist, science previously though that these nerve endings were involved in the regulation of blood flow. However, the research showed that they can also contribute to the conscious sense of touch. “This poorly managed blood flow can be the source of discomfort and muscle aches and a sense of fatigue, presumably due to an accumulation of lactic acid and low levels of inflammation in patients with fibromyalgia. This, in turn, can contribute to hyperactivity in the brain,” says Dr. Rice.

The current treatment for fibromyalgia hasn’t brought relief to every patient. The common therapies are narcotic analgesic, anticonvulsants and antidepressants as well as simple tips such as sleeping more and exercising regularly. However, now that the cause of the condition has been discovered, patients can look forward to a possible cure. “When there is something that does not fit into their understanding, some doctors underestimate their patients and tell them that they are crazy. The prescription of SSRIS against fibromyalgia is not the answer – it was nothing more than a lobotomy or hysterectomy,” says one of the scientist involved in the study.

The study is very promising and offers a better future for the unfortunate patients suffering from fibromyalgia.

5 Different Types of Soul Mates Everyone Encounters In Their Lives

A lot of people think ‘soul mate’ is a term used to describe that one person that’s a perfect match for them, but the truth is that soul mates actually come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

And while not all of them are romantic, all of them have a significant influence in our lives in one way or another.

Some soul mates are only with you for a brief second, others are with you for a lifetime, but you’ll undoubtedly remember all of them, as they all come into your life for a specific reason.

Here are five types of soul mates you will meet and learn to love in your lifetime:

Friendship Soul Mate

This person is often your best friend in life. It’s someone you met and instantly knew that the two of you would become lifelong friends, because it already feels like you’ve been friends your entire life.

This is the person you can talk to for hours and who always has your back because they often understand you better than you do.

This soul mate is here for the long haul, so be sure to nurture the relationship and never take it for granted.

The Wrecking Ball Soul Mate

This type of soul mate comes into your life with one purpose: to rock the boat. They come into your life when you’re in need of a change of perspective, challenging us to really think about our life and our plans.

You’ll know when this soul mate has entered your life because they come in like a hurricane of love and passion. One that you willingly get swept up in because you’ve never felt such a rush.

But, just as the storm passes, leaving behind nothing but debris, so does this soul mate. The only difference is that you grow into a different person using the remnants of the relationship as a foundation.

The Lover / Affair Soul Mate

These soul mates make their way into our lives to teach us something that will be valuable later on in life. They could be a first love, a hidden affair while with someone else, or just a passionate, friends-with-benefits type of situation.

These relationships slowly grow and build into something significant over time. And because you both taught each other so much, your bond will not dissipate anytime soon. These soul mates often stay as friends for quite sometime.

Stranger Soul Mate

The stranger soul mate is someone you typically meet randomly on a flight, bus ride, at a party or just walking down the street. You’ll immediately feel as though you recognize this person, even if you can’t remember from where. If you’re the type to believe in past lives, this person could be someone you’ve met in your past.

While your interaction with each other is brief, you both have words of wisdom that the other person needs to hear. Whether it’s validation or a nudge in the right direction, it’s always intimate.

Divine Love Soul Mate

This soul mate is the one that most people are referring to when they use the term ‘soul mate.’ It’s the one that every person strives to find in life, because if we’re lucky enough to find them, it usually means we’re destined to spend life together.

These soul mates are the culmination of every other soul mate listed above. Instantly recognizing one another, feeling like you’ve known them forever, the compassionate friendship, and of course, the deeply passionate, miraculous kind of love you’ve never experienced before.
